THESE ARE THE JEWELLERY TRENDS OF 2019, ACCORDING TO FASHION EXPERTS



Jewellery trends come and go every season, just like your favourite shoes or handbags.And while it’s easy to treat earrings or a ring as an outfit afterthought—especially on days you’re running late for work—having the right piece can transform a look. Many people, myself included, have one or two gold rings they wear every day or a perfect set of pearl earrings to complete a 9-to-5 outfit, but we should always make room in our wardrobes for an off-the-moment necklace or bracelet that imparts a little personality or whimsy or sophistication. 

Not sure what’s worth spending your money on in 2019, though? I tapped industry experts, from fashion directors to a style VP, to give you the inside scoop on what to buy. (I was never good at keeping secrets, anyway.) Here, the top four trends they swear will be everywhere this year. Have fun getting totally decked out.

Trend: Shells and Beads

“We love puka shells and are seeing the trend continue this year. Look to coloured shells as the newest update, layered with various lengths and bold colours. Tortoise is also a huge trend, we’re seeing lots of coloured tortoise especially in oversized geometric shaped earrings and necklaces.” 

Trend: Bold Gold Chains

“Bold gold is a must have for 2019. Chains and links give a nod to the ’80s for a retro statement. Oversized links in necklaces and bracelets are the perfect statement accessories to complete an outfit.” 

 

Trend: Mismatched Earrings

 


“I still believe in mismatched earrings. It’s not necessarily new news, but it feels more modern than wearing two giant matching earrings. It’s got more of an edge. Plus, they were all over the spring 2019 runways, still.” 
Trend: Resin



 “Resin is a huge trend for 2019, it really makes a statement in bold, saturated colors. So chic and makes any outfit instantly look it easy to pull together .”

The 7 Biggest Jewelry Trends of the Fall 2019 Season

There are different ways to be sustainable. One that was bandied about a lot this season was the notion of investing in pieces you can keep for a long time. We’re still seeing the chokers, chains, and mismatched earrings of  Spring , so plan to keep those in heavy rotation.
